Tobia Hawklyn is a freelance artist who has been creating furry and fantasy images for over a decade. She has a fondness for cats, vintage science fiction, and seeing the insides of electronic devices. When asked what tips she would give to younger artists, she replied, “Never throw your art away, even when the face looks like melted candle-wax run over by a trailer truck. In a year, go through all of your old art. You’ll find inspiration in the things you couldn’t use at the time- or at least be encouraged by your progress!”
In addition to her furry and fantasy art, she is also the artist of the cover for the popular novel “As the Butterbeans Boil” by Jayme Washington Smalley, as well as the character designer for the Shades of the Worlds web-novel, whose designs can be seen on this website.
PaintTool SAI and Photoshop are Tobia’s favorite art tools, run on her trusty Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet PC, and she is currently available for private commissions. She is also interested in working with others, and welcomes the opportunity to do character design, novel covers, and other commercial art venues.
Tobia is easily reached by email via the contact page, but if you’d like a quicker response, feel free to poke her through Facebook and Twitter. She’s always ready to discuss art, schedule a network doodle session, or just chat about the latest things happening in the world!
